Sabatino Moscati
Sabatino Moscati ( Rome , Italy , November 24 of 1922 – September 8 of 1997 ) was an archaeologist and linguist, Italian , known for his work on civilizations Phoenician and Punic . In 1954 he became professor of philology Semitic at the University of Rome , where he founded the Institute for Middle East Studies . He also founded the Institute of Phoenician and Punic civilization.
Sabatino led a large number of excavations, winning the award Lamarmora for his studies in Sardinia , the Selinon prize for the events in Sicily , the Magna Grecia Sybaris for his research on ancient Italy and I cavalli d’oro di San Marco for his work over the East.
